Whitney Port Is Sad That "The City" Is Over

http://img2.timeinc.net/people/i/2009/features/tvblog/090119/whitney_port.jpgFirst The Hills ended, and now The City.

The MTV reality show, which followed California Girl Whitney Port as she broke into world of New York's fashion industry, won't be back for a third season, its star confirms.

"It's always sad when one major chapter in your life comes to a close, but for me, this is the beginning of an entirely new one," Whitney wrote on her official blog. "I loved filming The City. It was just such an adventure and I'm so grateful for every opportunity it gave me."

The show, which was a spin-off of The Hills (itself a spin-off of Laguna Beach), also starred Olivia Palermo as Whitney's fashionable nemesis, Roxy Olin as a friend and roommate and People's Revolution's Kelly Cutrone as her no-nonsense mentor in the fashion PR world, among others.

Unlike The Hills, which came to a close with an elaborate series finale, fans of The City will have to settle with the season 2 finale, which had Whitney facing Kelly after taking a meeting with a competing PR firm.

"I'm so excited for whatever is next for me," Port's blog continues. "There are definitely a few things in the works, but right now I'm primarily focusing on my clothing line Whitney Eve. After all, it is my baby. I'm just so happy to be back home, I can finally spend unlimited time with those I love."

Whitney Port Runway Looks on Sale at RueLaLa

Whitney Port may be peeved about the lack of support from frenemy and Elle "reporter" Olivia Palermo on this season of the The City, but the socialite-slash-budding designer seems to be doing just fine on her own. Currently, RueLaLa members are shopping the reality star's Whitney Eve Collection as part of the the Modern Designers flash sales presented by, ahem, Elle magazine.

Fans of The City are apparently quite eager to slip into Whit's designs. Within two hours of the sale's launch, half the items were sold out. For now, six admittedly cute pieces remain including (our favorite) a black polka dot bustier top. For those of us in need of a gold ruffled jacket or a watercolor bow vest, the clock is ticking. The RueLaLa sale ends in just four days and some odd hours.

Whitney Port Promotes 'The City' In The City

Whitney Port was up bright and early this morning (April 26) in New York City as she taped an interview for the Wendy Williams Show.

Dressed to impress, the 25-year-old reality TV starlet was on hand to talk about her latest fashion line Whitney Eve as well as to dish about the upcoming drama for the next season of The City.

The big premiere airs tomorrow and centers on up-and-coming clothing designer Whitney and the issues she faces to make it in the fashion industry in New York.

“This season, you’ll not only see Whitney step into the new, exciting territory of truly being a fashion designer, but she also becomes an adult and true professional,” executive producer Liz Gately tells the New York Daily News. “She really takes ownership of her line, and we pull back the curtain on how a young designer gets it all together.”

Whitney Port: Back to "The City" Grind

Getting back to work on her MTV show, Whitney Port was spotted out in New York City on Wednesday afternoon (March 24).

Recently returned to the Big Apple after spending time in Australia and Los Angeles, the 25-year-old looked lovely as she arrived on the set of "The City" in the West Village.

The sighting comes shortly after it was revealed that Miss Port is facing a troubling situation - as she's been sued by designer Adrienne Baravetto.

Miss Baravetto claims she hasn't been paid a penny after doing most of the leg work for Miss Port's fashionable offerings - for which she was guaranteed an $80,000/year salary and 25% ownership.

In response, Whitney's lawyer, Michael A. Taitelman, tells People magazine, “The lawsuit that Adrienne Baravetto filed on March 19, 2010 against Whitney Eve, Inc., Whitney Port and others regarding the Whitney Eve clothing line is baseless and without merit. Whitney Port is, and always has been, the designer of Whitney Eve. Baravetto worked for Whitney Eve for a short period of time ending in early 2008. For more than two years, she has been silent. For reasons that we will uncover, she has decided to make these unsubstantiated allegations at this time. The defendants will vigorously defend themselves, and upon the successful conclusion of this lawsuit in their favor, they intend to hold Baravetto and her counsel accountable for their reckless conduct.”

Designer: Whitney Port Jacked My Style

Whitney Port is not the driving force behind her own clothing line -- this according to the designer who claims she did most of the work ... but got a raw deal financially.

According to a lawsuit filed Friday in L.A. County Superior Court, "Whitney Eve" -- which is advertised as Whitney Port's clothing line -- is mostly the work of designer Adrienne Baravetto.

In the court documents, Baravetto claims she met with Whitney Port and her father in 2007 to create a clothing line for women called Eve & A.

According to the suit, Baravetto claims she never signed an official contract but there was an oral agreement between both parties -- and she was promised an $80,000 annual salary plus 25 percent of the company.

Once the line got positive media attention -- and was purchased by several high-end retailers like Fred Segal -- Baravetto claims Whitney and her dad changed the name to "Whitney Eve" and cut Baravetto out of the deal.

Baravetto wants everything she says she was promised, plus punitive damages.

UPDATE: According to Whitney's rep, Baravetto's lawsuit is "baseless and without merit."

Whitney Port: Chilling in the West Village

Making her rounds in New York City, Whitney Port was spotted out and about in the West Village last night (February 10).

The “City” chick looked stylish as usual as she strolled past the paparazzi, sporting a black leather coat with animal print stockings and brown leather boots.

And it sounds like Whitney is getting excited for her new WhitneyEve clothing line, as she’s preparing to debut her Fall 2010 line.

She tweeted, “sending good vibes to my team in LA, @whitneyeve! have fun at the shoot today, can’t wait to see how the fall 2010 clothes look on the model.”
