Lauren: Life After Reality TV "Less Stressful"

Former reality TV starlet Lauren Conrad said last night that life after the "Hills" has been much more care-free than her days in the searing spotlight.

"It is a lot less stressful," she said during a Miami book signing Wednesday night. "You don't have to worry so much about the way you look or what you're wearing or what you're saying. You can breathe. ... I have time to do a lot of stuff that I couldn't do before."

Conrad offered a glimpse into her life off the small screen during a tween-packed signing at Books & Books last night for her new tome "Sweet Little Lies," a follow-up to New York Times-bestseller "LA Candy," which is loosely based on her life.

But don't expect Conrad to use her books as a way to dish on all the juicy details that went on behind the scenes.

"I think the main difference between my life and the books I write are that I made up people and I made up situations," she said

"I got to have fun with it, and, in a way, tell a similar story as far as things you go through and things you experience and what's it's like -- without spilling other secrets."

Even as other MTV reality shows such as "Jersey Shore" enjoy success, Lauren appears to be enjoying a somewhat low-key life in which she now has time to work on creating a clothing line and spend vacation time with her boyfriend, "My Boys" star Kyle Howard.

But what if MTV conjured up a "Hills" meets "Shore" spin-off?

"No, but I would watch it," she said.
