Lauren Conrad will be at the University of Southern Mississippi bookstore on the Hattiesburg campus to raise awareness and funds for the "m.powerment by mark" campaign to fight dating and relationship abuse.
Conrad is coming because the store sold more than 100 Conrad-designed heart necklaces last October, beating several other colleges throughout the nation.
"When our students realized all of the money was going toward prevention of date rape, our sales went up, which is why we won the contest," Kathy Hayman, book store manager, said in a news release.
Conrad, the face of "mark" — Avon's newest line of cosmetics, fragrances and accessories for young women, said the campaign has raised $400,000 since it launched.
She will sign her latest book "Sweet Little Lies" from 12:30-2:30 p.m. To meet her, customers must purchase at least $22 in mark merchandise with all net proceeds going to the m.powerment campaign.
Seating for the Conrad question and answer session and signing is limited to 150 people. Her session with audience members begins at noon, followed by the book signing. For more information, call (601) 266-5170.
