We dove into a conversation about skin care….as to be expected.
When I asked Stephanie about her skin care routine and favorite skin care products, I immediately realized it was a topic that is quite important to her. “I had serious acne growing up. I would stay home from the rashes I got from all the stuff (products) I tried. Things were way too harsh. My brother (Spencer Pratt) called me “rash girl”. Since I was little, my skin has always been my biggest issue. Bad skin is the number one thing that makes you lose self confidence. What I found that I stick with now and love is Dermalogica. I’ve been using that for the last four years.”
I asked Stephanie if she had any beauty or skin care advice and she said: ”It’s all about the product! For Halloween I put on really cheap makeup, because I was a vampire, and it made me break out.” We talked about the fact that using great products is key.
Then we got to chatting about one of my very favorite things in the world…spas. Her favorite spa? “I love Bacara in Santa Barbara. It’s really fun being at a hotel that’s also a spa. The rooms are amazing. It’s really fun to go there when it’s cold. It’s right by the ocean. I love it! I love getting a spa package at Bacara. And getting the package saves money.”
I’ve never been to Bacara and I’ve been dying to go, so I was really excited to hear what she had to say. It’s definitely on my list of places to visit. Stephanie went on to tell me… “Also, I’m pretty loyal to Burke Williams. My number one favorite thing in the world is massages.” Like Stephanie, I’m also a huge fan of Burke Williams in Los Angeles. Stephanie also loves treating herself to facials at Dermalogica in Santa Monica, CA. Stephanie certainly loves her Dermalogica.
Stephanie’s “must have” product?
“Dermalogica face wash. I always have a travel size in my car, in case I’m going to spend the night out. “ Stephanie never wants to be without her Dermalogica.
When I ask her about her favorite makeup she tells me…“ A makeup artist turned me on to Armani Designer Shaping Cream Foundation. It’s my favorite foundation I’ve ever tried. Me and Lauren (Lauren Conrad) love it.” Stephanie keeps Bare Escentuals Powder and Kai roll-on perfume oil in her purse. “Whenever someone is going to do my makeup I bring my Laura Mercier Oil-Free Primer, Dermalogica Active Moist, Armani Designer Shaping Cream Foundation and baby wipes for them to use.”
On time with girlfriends: I told Stephanie about my love for doing facials at home with my best friends, going to the spa and getting pedicures together. My favorite way to spend time with my girlfriends! Turns out, I was speaking to an expert on the topic.
“When I was younger, I had a beauty party like three years in a row. I had t-shirts made that said “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun”. Now, Lauren (Lauren Conrad) and I go to Burke Williams together and Audrina (Audrina Patridge) and I get pedicures together.” Clearly, this is my kind of girlfriend. She loves her spa time with friends.
On another, and relatively random, note…I’ve been giving a lot of thought to men and their skin care routines lately. I asked Stephanie if she had any thoughts on men in relation to skin care.
“I love when I walk into a guys bathroom and see anything other than a bar of soap. I like to see face products and toothpaste. My dad’s a dentist, so I really like guys who brush their teeth!” It’s a simple answer, but a good one. It’s nice to see when a guy has something other than just a bar of soap in his bathroom. So guys…if you want to impress the ladies…add a little something skin care related to your bathroom counter. It might make a greater impression than you ever imagined.
On a final note, I asked Stephanie what would surprise her fans most to know about her and she said “ I’m really down to earth and I don’t live in Hollywood. I only go in Hollywood for work. My celebrity friends are on the show (“The Hills”). And that’s because they are all really down to earth and genuine.” After my conversation with Stephanie, I have to agree. She is, in fact, really down to earth and great to chat with.
Thanks Stephanie.
