Executive Producer Adam Divello on Finales

Tonight, MTV will air a finale double-feature, as “The Hills” and “The City” wrap up their story lines. In the case of “The Hills,” tonight’s episode marks the end of the series, after more than 100 episodes, incalculable tears and public breakdowns. Executive producer Adam Divello won't give out any details, but said the producers “shot a lot of surprises.”

The Wall Street Journal: How do you feel about “The Hills” ending after six seasons?

Adam Divello: It’s a bittersweet moment for us to see the series end. It was something we all felt that it was the right time.

Will there be any spin offs?
Never say never. There’s definitely been some interest but nothing is in the works right now.

Is there any truth to rumors that Stephanie Pratt will join the cast of “The City?”
We’ve never talked to Stephanie Pratt about coming to “The City,” so I don’t know. We are just wrapping up the second season of that show and we haven’t started on the third season. We haven’t gotten an official pick up yet.

Is that why rumors swirled that “The City” was cancelled?
I don’t know how any of this stuff gets planted. It hasn’t been canceled at all. We go through a stage of pre-production where we figure out what we would present next season, and we’re presenting that to the network. But it’s looking very positive that “The City” will return.

When we started out in season one, we were coming off of Whitney leaving the Hills. We went very relationship heavy the first season and I think it was fun to see Whitney dating and running around the city trying to her act together. The second season we went more work related because I think that’s the fun thing to watch. Like a lot of New Yorkers, they take their careers and their work very seriously. When we come back next season, I think a lot of the players are going to be in different places.

Olivia told us that she’s edited in a certain way because the show needs drama. Do you agree?
It’s not a documentary. We’re not following Olivia around 24 hours a day. It’s her under a microscope. It’s probably a slight exaggeration of who she is but it’s all based on [her]. We don’t write the lines for [the cast] and we don’t tell them what to say. What comes out of their mouths is what comes out of their mouths.

If Olivia left Elle magazine, would we get to follow Joe Zee and Erin Kaplan?
We would regroup and think, what do we do next? Do we follow her outside of Elle? Do we follow Elle without her? We would certainly approach Elle and say, ‘Who is going is going to take Olivia’s place, we want to follow that new person.’ We would certainly follow Olivia as she looks for another gig and lands another job.

Does Heidi return in the finale?
You have to wait and see.

Stephanie Pratt tweeted a photo of Converse shoes covered in photos of “The Hills” cast. Are these going to show up in stores now?
Abby, one of our camera operators, [received them as a gift from a friend] for the 100th episode. She wore them to set. Pictures were taken and circulated. It’s very strange to see our cast’s faces all over a pair of sneakers but they are a one of a kind, custom-made Converse.

Roxy's financial woes force her to ask her dad for help paying rent.

Ken, Roxy's dad, refuses to help financially anymore and encourages her to return home.

Joe and Erin come bearing Whitney Eve for Olivia who is prepping looks for Ashley Greene.

Olivia is resistive towards the Whitney Eve pieces despite Joe's insistence that they use them.

When Roxy and Whitney refuse to speak to each other at the People's Revolution offices, Kelly tells them to put it aside for a charity event.

Actress Ashley Greene wears a jacket by Whitney Eve during her interview for ELLE.com.

Roxy and Whitney's tension boils over in the front row of a charity fashion show.

Kelly intervenes when the girls' fight starts to cause a scene.

The City (Season 2) | Ep. 10 | 'Stage Fight'

Roxy & Whitney have a falling out after Roxy is tasked with dressing a new musician in Whitney's clothing. Erin scores a spot for ELLE's editor-in-chief on the Martha Stewart Show, but needs Olivia's help to make it a success.

Joe preps Erin and Olivia for 'The Martha Stewart Show' segment with ELLE's editor-in-chief Robbie Myers.

Olivia is asked to prepare a look from new designer Prabal Gurung for 'Martha.'

Kelly assigns Roxy to style Canadian pop-singer LIGHTS in Whitney Eve for her New York concert.

Roxy tells Kelly and Whitney to trust her judgment and promises to pull through on dressing LIGHTS in Whitney Eve for her upcoming concert.

Whitney hesitantly agrees to let Roxy style LIGHTS solo.

Olivia and Joe check out Prabal Gurung's showroom where Olivia spots a look she wants for 'Martha.'

Prabal suggests a few looks to showcase on 'Martha' and even pulls a dress for Olivia to wear on the red carpet.

Roxy pulls Whitney Eve looks for LIGHTS to wear on stage.

LIGHTS tells Roxy Whitney Eve isn't really her style but settles on a jacket from the collection.

LIGHTS comes on stage sporting the Whitney Eve jacket, but then takes it off right at the start ...

...And throws it into a sad heap on the floor.

Seeing this, Whitney is furious and disappointed, and leaves Kelly to find Roxy backstage.

Meanwhile, Olivia wears Prabal's dress to a gala and receives kudos from her bosses on the looks she pulled.

Backstage, Whitney blames Roxy for LIGHTS' refusal to wear her line.

Roxy maintains that it's not her fault, and she couldn't force LIGHTS to keep on the jacket.

At 'The Martha Stewart Show,' Erin coordinates models and preps Robbie for the segment she booked.

Martha Stewart has ELLE editor-in-chief Robbie Myers on set for a segment on new designers.

The blue pants Olivia pulled from Prabal Gurung's collection are a hit and the segment is a success.

Meanwhile, Whitney is still furious with Roxy and doubts whether they should work together anymore.

Roxy is equally upset with Whitney for refusing to see her side and decides to move out of their shared apartment.

Olivia is congratulated by Joe for her work on the 'Martha Stewart' segment.

Erin thanks Joe for his kind words regarding her work but ignores Olivia's part in it.
